Full Moon Party dates 2026-27: Koh Phangan's calendar, checked

Nine dated parties from 24 November 2026 to 19 June 2027, taken from the list the Haad Rin Business Association issues, including the February and May parties moved a day for Buddhist holy days, and how Haad Rin works on the night.

The short answer: The Full Moon Party on Haad Rin beach, Koh Phangan, runs roughly once a month, on or near the full moon, through the night until sunrise. Nine dated parties sit inside our calendar window, from Tuesday 24 November 2026 to Saturday 19 June 2027, and every one of them is published on the official dates list maintained by Haad Rin businesses. Two of the nine are not on the full moon itself. When a party date would fall on a major Buddhist holy day, it moves to the following day, and in this window that rule moves both the February and the May parties.

Two dates in the table are parties by invitation of the calendar rather than of the moon. The 31 December party is a New Year countdown edition, held every year whatever the moon is doing. The 24 November 2026 party shares its night with Loy Krathong, so Haad Rin that evening holds both the beach party and the floating of krathongs on the water. The published list continues beyond June 2027, and later dates will join the calendar as the window extends.

How the dates are set

The dates are not set by a promoter choosing weekends. They are issued each year by the Haad Rin Business Association committee, and the official dates page is supported and maintained by members of the Haad Rin business community on Koh Phangan. The starting point is the full moon, with the party on or near it. The adjustment is the holy day rule. The dates page states it directly: dates falling on major Buddhist holy days are moved to the following day. In March 2026 the Haad Rin Village Committee and the business operators' association formalised that practice, resolving that any party falling on a significant Buddhist religious day, Wan Phra Yai, is postponed to the day after, out of respect for the observance.

That one rule explains the two moved dates in the table. Makha Bucha Day falls on Sunday 21 February 2027, so the February party sits on Monday 22 February, which is also, by coincidence, the substitution holiday for Makha Bucha on the Bank of Thailand list. Visakha Bucha Day, the holiest day of the Buddhist year, falls on Thursday 20 May 2027, so the May party sits on Friday 21 May. The same rule is already visible in the published list beyond our window, where the July 2027 party moves around Asalha Bucha and the start of Buddhist Lent. The lesson for planning is simple: never work out a Full Moon Party date from a moon phase chart alone. Check it against the issued list, because the list, not the moon, is what the beach follows.

The dates page carries its own caution, which we repeat rather than soften: party dates may change in line with local or government announcements, and travellers should verify dates with local agencies and hotels before travelling. Our records for all nine parties carry the standing of confirmed, because the association has published them, and they were all checked against that page on 27 October 2026. Confirmed does not mean immovable, and a recheck in the week before any party is part of using this list properly.

Haad Rin, practically

The party occupies one beach: Haad Rin Nok, also called Sunrise Beach, in Haad Rin at the southern tip of Koh Phangan. Bars and sound systems line the beach from dark until sunrise, each playing a different style of dance music, so the night is a walk along a strip of competing stages rather than a single concert bowl. Entry to the beach on party night is paid. Our records list the parties as ticketed events, and wristband entry on the night is how Haad Rin runs them.

Koh Phangan has no airport. Most visitors arrive by ferry, either via Koh Samui, which has the nearest airport, or from the mainland at Surat Thani, and finish the journey into Haad Rin by road. Around party dates the boats fill in both directions, the return crossing matters as much as the one in, and the morning sailings after a party are the busiest of the month. Book crossings with the party date, not around it, and keep a night's slack in the plan if a connection matters.

Where to sleep is the other real decision. Haad Rin itself is the walk home option, and its rooms are at their fullest and loudest on party nights. Staying elsewhere on the island trades the walk for a ride back in the small hours, on roads that are busy all night. Either is workable. What is not workable is treating Haad Rin as a place to arrive unbooked on the afternoon of a party in peak season, in particular around the January party and the New Year countdown. Finally, the holy day rule cuts the other way as well as moving the party: the day the party moved away from is a day of alcohol sales restrictions and temple observance across Thailand, and the island marks it as the rest of the country does. More island listings are under music.
