Pattaya Fireworks Festival: the beach weekend, planned

International fireworks teams light up Pattaya Bay on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 November 2026, and the show is free from the sand. Where to watch, when Beach Road closes, where to stay so you can walk home, and what to do with the days either side.

The short answer: On Friday 27 and Saturday 28 November 2026, international fireworks teams fire choreographed displays over Pattaya Bay from pontoons off Central Beach, and the beach itself is the grandstand: watching from the public sand is free, and you simply need to be standing on it. Pattaya City organises the festival, Beach Road closes from mid afternoon on both days, and the whole trip is best planned around one fact: once the road closes, you want to already be there, on foot, with nowhere else you need to reach. Our calendar record is the Pattaya International Fireworks Festival 2026.

How the nights run

Pattaya City had not published the 2026 running order when we checked on 28 October 2026: the festival's listing on TAGTHAi, the national tourism platform, confirms the dates and venue and notes that the detailed programme is to come. Last year's edition gives the shape to plan around, and it is a reliable one, because the format is the festival's own. The stage programme and opening ceremonies began at 18:00, the first display fired at around 19:15 to 19:30, and five displays followed through the evening, interleaved with stage shows, concerts and cultural performances, ending at about 22:30. Teams from several countries present each display set to music, and the pontoons sit far enough out that the whole beachfront shares the view. Treat those times as the pattern, not a promise: when the city publishes the 2026 schedule, it replaces them.

Where to watch

The sand at Central Beach is the full experience: the displays dead ahead, the music audible, the food stalls and festival crowds at your back. Arrive by late afternoon, because the best stretches fill from the front, and bring a mat rather than expecting to sit on bare sand for five hours. The sunset over the bay is the warm-up act.

The quieter ends of the beach, north towards Naklua and south towards the Walking Street end, show the same displays at a slight angle with thinner crowds. The trade is a longer walk home, which on this weekend is a pleasure rather than a chore.

Beachfront hotels and rooftops sell the seated version: viewing dinners on both nights, and balconies facing the bay for guests. A sea-facing balcony removes every crowd problem the festival has, which is why these rooms are the first in the city to go. Book them as soon as your dates are fixed, not when the programme appears.

Roads, and the walk home

Beach Road closes from about 15:00 on both festival days, and the centre of Pattaya effectively becomes pedestrian for the evening. The planning consequence is simple: stay within walking distance of Central Beach. The beachfront itself is the premium, and Second Road, one street back, is the practical version of the same idea: everything the festival involves is then a walk, and the night ends on foot instead of in a traffic queue. If you are staying further out, in Jomtien or Naklua, come in before the closure and expect the trip back to be slow. From Bangkok, allow a clear run of about two hours by road and travel earlier in the day, not against the closure.

The days either side

Two nights of standing on sand want unhurried days between them. North of the centre, the Sanctuary of Truth is Pattaya's great daytime sight, an immense carved wooden temple by the sea that rewards a morning visit. Inland, Nong Nooch Tropical Garden fills a half day with landscaped gardens and shows, and is the easy family option of the weekend. Both are bookable below; Saturday between the two firework nights is when everyone else thinks of them, so Friday morning or Sunday is the quieter slot.

Sunday asks for nothing more than a slow beach morning and the trip back. The weekend is also the start of Pattaya's high season proper: a month later the same beach hosts the city's three night countdown, so a fireworks weekend is the gentler rehearsal for Pattaya at full volume. Stays for both are on the hotels page.
