About this event
Khao Phansa, Monday 19 July 2027, is a government holiday on the official 2027 calendar, falling the day after Asanha Bucha Day. It marks the start of Buddhist Lent, the three month rains retreat during which monks stay at one temple. Government offices close. Alcohol sales are prohibited on the day under Thai law. The Bank of Thailand does not list Khao Phansa as a separate bank holiday: in 2027 banks close on Monday 19 July as the substitution holiday for Asanha Bucha Day, which falls on the Sunday.
