About this event
Kui Buri is the one place in Thailand where wild elephants are seen on most visits: herds come out of the Tenasserim forest in the late afternoon to graze and drink at the Huai Luek grasslands, and gaur, banteng and hornbills share the same ground. Viewing is only by park authorised open safari vehicle with a ranger, running in the afternoons, roughly 14:00 to 18:00. The park is open year round. The window shown is the dry season pattern, November to April, when elephants gather near permanent water and sighting odds are at their highest; in the rains the herds spread through the forest and the grassland tracks can flood. The season follows the pattern published in park visitor guides, and the Department of National Parks page is the upgrade source when it republishes seasonal advice.
