About this event
The official 2027 holiday lists published through the Stock Exchange of Thailand and the Bank of Thailand give Makha Bucha Day as Sunday 21 February 2027, with a substitution holiday on Monday 22 February. Temples across Bangkok hold morning alms giving and evening candlelight processions in which worshippers circle the ordination hall three times carrying candles, incense and lotus flowers. As on all major Buddhist holy days, alcohol sales are prohibited for the day and many bars close.
