About this event
New Year's Day is the first entry on the Bank of Thailand holiday list for 2027, falling on Friday 1 January. Government offices and banks close, and the morning after the countdowns has its own tradition of tak bat, offering alms to monks, at temples across Bangkok. Malls and tourist attractions open as usual through the long weekend.
