About this event
Wat Phra Pathom Chedi has organised its annual festival since 1974 to fund the upkeep of the 120 metre chedi. The festival rule is fixed by the lunar calendar: it opens on the evening of the full moon of the twelfth month, Loy Krathong, and runs to the fourth waning day, with the temple committee deciding each year between five days and five nights or the full nine days and nine nights of worship, food stalls, fairground rides and market rows around the floodlit chedi. The 2026 dates are not yet published by the temple. The window shown takes the nine day form, from Loy Krathong on Tuesday 24 November 2026, and will be shortened if the committee chooses the five day form. The pattern and the organising temple are stated in the chedi's published history, cited here.
