About this event
Phra Pradaeng, the old Mon town in the river bend south of Bangkok, keeps Songkran to its own calendar, celebrating a week after the rest of the country. Its festival is one of the Bangkok area's most distinctive: a Nang Songkran pageant, Mon food and dress, merit making, and the closing procession in which townspeople carry fish and birds to the Chao Phraya to release them. The 2027 dates are not yet published by the municipality. The window shown follows the festival's established pattern of the weekend a week after the main Songkran of 13 to 15 April, giving 23 to 25 April 2027, and will be updated when Phra Pradaeng municipality announces the edition.
