About this event
Expected record based on a settled lunar pattern, not a published 2027 date. The tradition is held on the 13th to 15th days of the waxing moon of the sixth lunar month, when Khmer, Lao and Kui families ordain their sons together at Wat Chaeng Sawang in Ban Ta Klang, Tha Tum District, and the thailand.go.th government calendar listed the 2026 edition from 29 April to 1 May, ending on that month's full moon. In 2027 the full moon of the sixth lunar month falls on 20 May, Visakha Bucha Day, so the 2027 edition is expected from 18 to 20 May 2027, with more than 50 elephants crossing the Mun River to Wang Thalu.
