About this event
Tak Bat Devo marks the Buddha's descent from heaven after the Lent retreat. At Uthai Thani the rite is staged at Wat Sangkat Rattanakhiri on Khao Sakae Krang, where hundreds of monks walk down the mountain stairway in single file to receive alms from thousands of devotees in the town below, one of the most photographed alms ceremonies in Thailand. The government events calendar listed the 2026 festival on 26 to 27 October 2026, the Ok Phansa weekend. The date follows the fixed religious pattern: Devo alms are given the day after Ok Phansa, which falls on Friday 15 October 2027, putting the ceremony on Saturday 16 October 2027. The 2027 provincial programme is published close to the season, so this record is marked expected.
