About this event
Tak Bat Dok Mai is unique to Wat Phra Phutthabat in Saraburi. On Khao Phansa, the first day of Buddhist Lent, devotees line the temple's stairway to offer dok khao phansa, the yellow white flowers that bloom only in this season, together with candles, to rows of monks ascending to the shrine of the Buddha's footprint. The flowers are then used to worship at the mondop, and the temple grounds host a festival fair. The rite is fixed to Khao Phansa day, which falls on Monday 19 July 2027 in the published holiday calendar, the day after Asanha Bucha. The 2027 temple programme is published close to the season; the date follows the fixed religious pattern, so this record is marked expected rather than official.
