Luggage

Where to leave your bags in Bangkok.

Bangkok is unusually well set up for travelling light: both airports have staffed storage counters that never close, the big malls hold bags for a flat daily rate, station lockers cover the short gaps, and a booking network can put a bag in a shop near wherever you are standing. These are the options, with the prices the operators themselves publish.

At the airports: staffed counters, open around the clock

AIRPORTELs runs the best documented airport storage in the city. At Suvarnabhumi its counter is on the B floor in the Airport Rail Link zone, on your way from arrivals to the city trains; at Don Mueang it is in Terminal 2 on the 1st floor at Gate 9. Both counters are staffed 24 hours a day and charge a flat 100 baht per bag per day, any size, with 500 baht covering 5 to 7 days and 2,000 baht covering 26 to 30 days. Every bag is X-ray screened, tagged and photographed, and each booking is insured up to 50,000 baht.

Suvarnabhumi has other counters too. Bellugg stores bags on the 4th floor in departures near Gate 7 and on the 2nd floor in arrivals near Exit 4, charging by size at 150 baht for a small bag, 180 baht for medium and 200 baht for large per 24 hours. SmileLugg, also on the B floor at Suvarnabhumi, matches the flat 100 baht a day. If you land at either airport and want a person, a receipt and cover at any hour, the airports are the reliable answer.

In the city: mall counters and station lockers

AIRPORTELs also staffs counters inside the malls travellers actually pass through: MBK Center (6th floor, Zone B), Terminal 21 Asok (1st floor, Tokyo zone, at the BTS and MRT junction), CentralWorld (1st floor), ICONSIAM (B2 floor) and EmSphere (B1 floor), most of them open daily from 10 in the morning to 10 at night. City counters charge a flat 150 baht per bag per day, any size.

For a gap of a few hours, a self-service locker is cheaper than any counter. Lock Box lockers, found at MRT and BTS stations among other locations and available 24 hours at their locations, charge from about 20 baht an hour with a two-hour minimum, and day rates from 350 baht for 12 to 24 hours through their call centre. Bounce also runs its own lockers at points including BTS Sala Daeng and MRT Chatuchak Park. A locker is a box you close yourself: it suits a daypack over lunch, while a suitcase you are flying with is better at a staffed counter, where its condition is recorded and the booking carries cover.

Book a spot near you: Bounce

Bounce puts storage inside partner shops, hotels and cafes across Bangkok: its Bangkok page lists 224 storage spots, from 80 baht per bag per day, with free cancellation, no size or quantity limits, and 10,000 US dollars of protection per booking. The exact address of your spot is confirmed when you book. If your day is nowhere near an airport or a mall counter, this is usually the closest option.

Staying at a hotel and coming back to it the same day? The bell desk will usually hold bags for free, and that beats every paid option on this page. Paid storage earns its money when you are between hotels, when your day ends at the airport, or when there is no staffed desk to ask.
